[Opinions] Dimitri?
What are your opinions of this name? And what kind of person do you picture when you hear this name? Also, how do you like it with Andreas? If you dont like it, could you suggest another uncommon boys name with ancient roots that would pair well with Andreas. Thanks.

I love Dimitri and I have a hard time trying to imagine what kind of person would have it. I don't really like Andreas.

I'm not sure where you are but Dimitri to me is a very exotic European kind of name. He would have black hair, be thin and mysterious & artistic. It pairs well enough with Andreas, either Dimitri Andreas or Andreas Dimitri.

I like it. It makes me think of artists and art etc. And (this is very esoteric) the fact that this is Sasha Son's real first name just makes it extra...uh...i can't think of the adjective right now...I guess for me it's one of those names that can have a multitude of mental images. But i first think of a super tall Russian artist guy with brown hair.Dimitri & Andreas isn't too out of place for a sib set (it is a sibset, right?). What immediatly sprung to mind for another name was Marduk (ok, it's a little out there but...)

It's one of my favorites! I picture a quiet, sensitive Russian who's good at music. It's nice with Andreas, but the rhythm is a little repetitive. If I were finding a first name to go with Andreas, I would choose Søren (Soren for the link).

I really adore the name Dimitri... and I like the sound of Andreas Dimitri, but I'd also love to see them as siblings... I picture a tall, dark haired man, with an accent, like Russian or there abouts

It's widely used where I live in the Greek community; also Demetrios etc. And they all seem to go by the nn of Jimmy! As for picturing one: I've never met a dud but I've never met a stand-out star either ... well, maybe one. So, pretty middle of the road.I prefer Andreas to Andrew, which I find impossibly bland and dull, and I suppose it sounds OK with Dimitri, but it would never be my choice.

In my mind, Dimitri would be a tall, strong Russian guy with light hair and light eyes, probably athletic but low-key and easily entertained.
The 2 Dimitris I've met have been shorter, really whiny, dark hair, dark eyes, threw fits when things didn't go the way they dictated, and way too easily offended.I do like the name, just the associations I have kind of bring it down for me.
I do think it's great with Andreas and I totally acknowledge that not all Dimitris are like the ones I've met. I'd love Constantine with Andreas!

I only like it with a Russian last name, or a Russian-sounding last name. If you have an American last name, like Smith or Brown, it just doesn't work.
