I randomly came up with this so I thought I'd give it a try. This is a "most common names of BtNers", "most popular names on BtN", and "opinions of names" survey all in one. I know we had a "most popular" not too long ago, but just to see if anything's changed:

3 Like; Deborah is fine except for the ghastly nns and perverted spellings. But I've had two daughters with three names each, and not a Deborah among them, which probably indicates something.

1. Don't want to say, but it has gone from obscurity to becoming popular enough one could almost say it's a filler middle name.

1. I'll not say WHAT it is, but I'll say that it's two names (one French, the other is from a bunch of different languages).
2. So hard to decide! I'll just choose a random one I like for each gender. Guys- Leopold. Girls- Anneliese. They aren't necessarily my number one favorite. I can't EVER decide on a favorite anything.
3. Full first name- Neutral/Like; Nickname- LOVE, it fits me SO much better than my full first name.

Even I can't look past the fact that my name is dated, but when I can manage to put myself back into time when it was new and fresh, I can see its appeal. I might actually have really liked it back then. For now, though, I'd rather not have a dated name that many dislike for that reason alone. But then, it's not horrible, and I'd still rather have it than some names that are popular now that I hate. Neutral.

I'm not crazy about the name even when spelled Renee, but at least that's the feminine version. And since I'm a woman, it would be nice to have that spelling, rather than the masculine Rene.)

Can I ask you something?
Hopefully it isn't too personal. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. When you changed your name, was it "the one", or a name that you really liked? Just basically...how did you end up making your choice? Sorry for the random question. I just realized that I never asked you that before, and it seems silly since you've changed your name and I haven't yet. Thanks :)

Oh dear I did not see that you also asked!
Well, long story short, after many years of indecision and waiting for my "true love" of a name to come along and take me away from all this (which it never did), I finally just made a list of what I was looking for in a name - the characteristics I wanted. I made many many lists and after a long narrowing-down process, I ended up with the name I have today. One thing I did not do, surprisingly, was check the popularity of the name. I don't know if I forgot, or didn't care or what, but I really - honestly!- had no idea that Chloe was such a pop-rocket of a name. If I had to do it again, I might've gone with my runner-up name, Clio. At the time though, I thought Chloe sounded friendlier and "more me".
Maybe it was a blessing in diguise because whenever I tell people that Clio was my second choice, they delight in telling me of how awful Clio is and how they'd have no respect for a person named Clio. So... yay?
My surname actually did come to me in a flash of insight though. It's basically a matronymic.
