I don't know about the common pronuciation but Encarta and the Oxford English Dictionary both give tha-LYE-ah as the pronunciation.
http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/thalia.html - If you click on the speaker it gives a spoken pronunciation. It also gives two other pronunciations.
Unfortunately the OED site I used is subscription only (I used my university's access)
