Help[Opinions] Maud.
Maud -- or was it Maude? -- was my Nanna's middle name, she was Kathleen Maud(e), and I used to despise it. But, it's actually been growing on me lately. What do you think?

I feel the same way. I used to equate it with the color mauve (which I pronounce as "mahv") -- a color I still can't stand.
But I've been working on liberating Maud and so have tried to link it in my mind with historic Matildas. Queen Maud and King Stephen duking it out in Norman England is a wonderfully historic frame of reference. :-D
While I can't say I love it yet, I'm getting there.

When I was tiny, I had a Scottish honorary Aunt Maudie, sister to our then neighbour "Aunty" Gladys. Tall, long legs, blue-green eyes, sandy redhead. Inspiring? I think so!
I also taught a Maud once, though she preferred to go by her traditional name which I'm afraid I forget. Good kid, full of energy.

I kinda like it! It makes me think of a really rich purple colour.

Love it! Especially with the nn Molly.
It sounds very sophisticated and royal to me. I like it better paired with a "lighter", more feminine name - something like Maud Emily, Maud Charlotte, Arabella Maud, or Isadora Maud.
My personal combo is Maud Isabelle Florence.

It just has such a cool sound to it. My niece went to school with a Maude who went by Maudie, and I've met a few other young ones.

Maud/Maude reminds me of the word maudlin (fun fact: maudlin actually comes from the name Madeleine/Magdalene, as in images of Mary Magdalene weeping). It also is so close to mauve and maul... I just get a lot of weird images associated with the name. I don't particularly dislike it, though. I'd be more likely to use Matilda.
