[Opinions] Luise
What do you think of the name Luise? Specifically, this spelling.I like this spelling better than Louise, actually. I think it looks prettier.

Unfortunately, the Afrikaans word for a louse is luis, and the plural is luise. I was familiar with this before I found the German spelling of Louise, so it was no go for me from the start.I prefer Louise to Louisa, and Eloise to both, if that helps!

Wow, I didn't know that! It's kinda funny because I know a girl named Marie-Luise whose first language is Afrikaans :) (her parents are German though and she fluent in German too)

I've never seen Luise before. I've seen Luis and Luisa. I've never really cared for those spellings, so Luise isn't going over very well with me at the moment. They all look smushed, like someone squeezed the "o" right out of them. (But just that's because I'm so used to Louis / Louise / Louisa.)

It feels incomplete to me. I prefer Louisa or Louise. Then again, this is probably just because I speak/read French and English, but not much German!

Luise looks incomplete to me. Do you mean it LOOKS prettier? Because I thought they sounded exactly the same.

Actually they don't...Luise = loo-EE-zə (German)
Louise = loo-EEZ (French & English)
