Hmmm. I'm Indian, and my grandmother's name is Lalitha. Maybe it has some roots in that? Leela means play, so maybe it can come from that as well. I'll go ask my grandparetns who are Indian name experts to find out. I'll reply soon.

by the way... is Lala a "real" name, or just a nickname? Is there a meaning? I really like it. I live in Nepal (I am originally from Finland), and I am always looking for interesting names, especially now that me and my husband are trying to get pregnant.

Lala is not my nameLala was a name I just made up to post here 2 years ago. I didn't even know it was a real name!!! My real name is on this website. It mean's moonlight in Sanskrit.
