Help[Opinions] Temperance, Constance, Patience and Prudence.
What do you think of them? Which do you like the best? Least?
I'm loving all four of them at the moment. I rather love the idea of Prudence "Prue", but I'm unsure on nicknames for the others (I'm not a big fan of Connie for Constance), so suggestions'd be great.

I absolutely ADORE Patience. It's one of my favorite names. Prudence and Constance just sound too old-fashioned to me, though I think Temperance sounds nice enough to make a comeback.
As far as nicknames go, I've never been a fan of them, and I myself would much rather let the names stay unadulterated in their full form. So, sorry I'm not much help there. :)

Aesthetically, I like Temperance best, but I don't love the association with the American temperance movement too much (despite that movement's associations with abolition and women's rights movements).
Meaning-wise, I like Patience best.
Constance and Prudence are just not my style.

I love them all.
I've always though Tansy could be a nickname for Constance.
I also have a soft spot for Pleasance, it's a GP.

The only one I don't like is Prudence. I don't like the sound of it (or the mm Prue) and I don't think it's a great virtue to be named after, either! But I LOVE the other 3. I really don't know what my favourite is - maybe Constance, than Temperance? I think all 3 have a lovely sound to them, and lovely meanings.
I'm not too sure on nicknames - the obvious one for Temperance is Tempe (pron. Temp-ee) which is just because I watch a lot of Bones! You could also use Perry. I cant actually think of any for the others, sorry!

I like Prudence and Temperance the best. Constance is my least favorite, because I detest Connie, and I'm sure it'd always be getting shortened to that. :/

Temperance: I can only think of the Temperance Movement. I don't like how it sounds, anyway. This is probably my least favorite.
Constance: I've always loved this. As it's only two syllables, I don't think it would be too hard to avoid Connie.
Patience: It's fine, but I just don't like it as a name. It might be because I'm too impatient.
Prudence: A girl with this name would be at risk of being called a "prude", but I like it. It makes me think of the Beatles (Dear Prudence), which is always a good thing for me. Prue is a fine nickname, but, again, I don't think it needs it.
As far as other English-language virtue names go, I like Hope as a middle name and love Verity.

I don't like any of them much. but Prudence sounds like prune and so i think of someone old and wrinkly. And everytime I hear Temperance I think of Bones and her dad on the show calls her Tempy so that could be a nickname for Temperance. but when you give a kid the name Patience your kinda asking for alot and he or she would get made fun of an awful lot.

My favorites of the ones you mentioned are Patience and Prudence. If I were to nickname them, I'd probably use Patsy and Pru/Prudie, respectively.
I like Constance and Temperance, but I'd probably use them as middle names, since they don't come with easy nicknames that I like.
I also like Mercy (f), Remembrance (f), Deliverance (f), and Salvation (m).

I love Constance. It's pretty. The nickname Connie is cute.

The only one I really like is Prudence, and that's because of a BtNer who shared the story of her great-great-grandmother who was badass and had the name (holla if you're here, 'cause I don't remember who you are.)

She had a trying Australian adventure, to be sure, during the time of the gold rush, endured the loss of some of her children to disease while there, then, after moving back to England, was alone with her children (her husband being away at sea in the Baltic, his ship having been commissioned for the war)when the Germans bombed West Hartlepool. She later emigrated to America. She was a very resilient woman with a lot of pluck and a lot of faith. We are so fortunate that her daughters wrote about her and her life.
On paper, the name Prudence might not have ever been a favorite of mine, but because I admire my great great grandmother so, it has grown dear to me, and I think only of her amiable and admirable qualities and imagine a young Prudence to be a sweet and lovely girl.

I like Temperance the most and Prudence the least. I love Temperance and hate Prudence. I like Patience, but not as much as Temperance. Constance has a bit of a frumpy feel to me, and I detest the nickname Connie.

I don't like virtue names in general, because I think they saddle kids (consciously or otherwise) with an ideal that they might feel they have to live up to. Most of them also sound very Puritanical to my ears.
That said, my mother-in-law is named Constance (and goes by Connie), so I guess I'm the most conditioned to that one. I don't like the "prudish" sense of Prudence, and Temperance makes me think of the Prohibition era. Patience isn't bad, though, I guess. There's nothing negative about being patient, right? :)

Yeah, the Temperance Movement was bugging me...
We studied it in History, and I have an exam coming up on the 1920s, so it does remind me of that.

Temperance I like the least but I would honestly be pleased to see any name you've listed used. I love Constance as a middle name as I, too, dislike the nickname Connie. Prudence would be my favourite first name contender.

Patience is a absolute true love of mine. I would call her Pansy as a nn, even though it's not traditional for the name.

I've never heard anyone call someone "prude". Interesting. Prudence "Prue" is from one of my favourite books.
