[Opinions] Re: Some Gaelic Girl Names
in reply to a message by Laurasaurus
Oh, I love Gaelic names! Saoirse is one of my leading contenders for a girl name. I'm not sure how well it would go over in the USA, but I keep reminding myself that I used to work with a woman named Siobhan, and she seemed to have no trouble with her name.
Keela is nice -- I hadn't heard that one before. I also like Aine, Aoife, Niamh, Laoise, Fionnuala, and Ciara. Marsaili I'm not too keen on. I do like Sorcha, but I've left it off my list because I'm afraid people would mishear "sorka" as "orca," especially since ORCA is the name of a transit pass where I live (complete with an illustration of a whale on the card!).
Teagan was a name I had on my list of boy names for a while, but I decided it sounded too light for a boy. For a girl, it might be a good choice.
