I went to the dentist today, and found out that one of the dentists there is named Rhonda. I think the name sounds nice.
What do you think of the name Rhonda? Is it too dated? Know any good combos for it?

Too dated & heavy. I don't like it.
Side note: The nurse at my daughter's pediatrician is named Olga, which I also hate bc it is so dated & heavy sounding. But I like her a lot. She is young too-20's.

I have never cared for the name much and now I have a bad association with it-icky neighbor. But, even so, it's a decent enough sounding name, just really hard to picture on a baby in 2011. Maybe it will come back around someday.

I've never cared for Rhonda. It reminds me of rotunda. (I actually met a woman name Rotunda once, poor thing. At least she was thin and pretty. But yikes.)
What about Rhonwen, Rhona or Rhoda, instead? The rose connection elevates Rhoda in my mind. Plus, there's an exotic, middle Eastern thing going on with Rhoda that intrigues me.

Every time Rotunda comes up, I gotta point out: My SO's ex-girlfriend, and mother of his daughter, is named Rotunda. When he first told me her name, I laughed, but seeing he was offended, I stopped.

It seems very dated to me. It kind of has a harsh sound. I never cared for it much, but it could grow on me.

I'm not trying to be indie, but for some reason I skip right past the dated and fat associations and think of someone young, pretty, and smart. My head-Rhonda is sort of like Betty Cooper but a little more badass. I wonder if I know a Rhonda like that? Or maybe it's just the beach boys song? I dunno.

I think it sounds very dated. The only Rhonda I can picture is a middle-aged woman.

I knew a child Rhonda, a childhood friend of my daughter's. She would be a child no longer at this time---she must be approximately thirty years old now, but when I knew her, she was a child of about eight or nine years of age, so I guess that's why I don't have the difficulty some others are having picturing a child Rhonda. I've known two other Rhondas---one was young, in her early twenties, when I knew her and must be in her early fifties now. The other one is a middle-aged woman and I've only known her as such. She's in her late fifties, but she's not fat or hairy!
As for my opinion of the name, I agree it's dated and I just don't care for it much---no imagery of a middle-aged, fat, hairy woman, but I just find the sound unattractive. Rather harsh.

I find the sound harsh too. I don't picture a hairy or fat middle-aged woman, just a middle-aged woman. I've never met any child Rhonda's so that's why it's hard for me to picture it on a little girl.

I want to like it, but it just sounds so harsh. It's hard to imagine a little girl named Rhonda. I prefer Rhoda. It's not nearly as harsh sounding.
I know of a Rhonda Louise. Neither name is one I'd use, but the names go together well. Some other combos that came to mind were Rhonda Camille, Rhonda June, Rhonda Gabrielle, Rhonda Fay / Faye, Rhonda Miriam, and Rhonda Celeste.

This name always sounded "fat" to me. I don't know how else to describe it. It's just, whenever I hear it, I picture a big, round, hairy woman. :/

I actually knew a big, fat, dorky Toby.
He was my manager when I worked at a supermarket. He was such a weirdo, he took a day off when his goldfish died.
