Help[Opinions] Buttercup
I'm bored and just cruising around the internet in search of some amusement, and in doing so I discovered that Babycenter has Buttercup in their database of names. I decided to see if this site does, and discovered that it doesn't. However, there is a user-submitted Buttercup.
I think Buttercup is hilarious. It is so making me laugh. What do you think of Buttercup? Is it usable, in your opinion?

It was too much even for Gilbert and Sullivan! In HMS Pinafore the character sings "I'm clled Little Buttercup, sweet Little Buttercup, though I could never tell why ... but still I'm called Buttercup."
For that and other reasons - OK, it was yellow - our first car was called Little Buttercup. Went well for over 20 years!

I don't even like this name on a pet. When we adopted our dog his name was actually Buttercup. A male dog named Buttercup. What were his owners thinking? The first thing we did was change his name to Spenser.

Like Fiammetta said, it's only usable on a pet.
However, Boglárka (the word for buttercup) is a very common name in Hungary, and I would use that. The Powerpuff girl's name is different.

It's not usable in my opinion. It always makes me think of one of the Powerpuff Girls. Good show, but I wouldn't want to be named Buttercup!

Totally unusable, in my opinion. At least on a human. I can see a cute little rabbit named Buttercup, but not on a little girl.

Echoing the "real person named Buttercup can't possibly be taken seriously" sentiment. Imagine telling someone, with a straight face, that your name is Buttercup. I'm cracking up just thinking about it.

There's a brilliant joke written by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie for their sketch show, but it only really works in an English or Australian accent:

I reminds me of the Princess Bride. And "Why do build me up? Buttercup, only to let me down..." Not a word name I'd choose.

Hehe, Princess Bride. I'd only use it on a kid as a "nickname" that has nothing to do with the kid's real name... for instance I had a babysitter who randomly called me Tinkerbell / Tink. I can see it as a name in that way.

I think Buttercup is an excellent pet name but not a good name for a baby.

I am kind o surprised that not one person thought that maybe this could be a viable middle name. Not that I would use it but it still kind of surprises me that not one single person thought it was....
