I usually like flowing names oozing with lots of feminine umph (Isabella, Gabriella, Theodora, Annabella, Eliana, Isadora), but there's something about Miradora that doesn't wow me. It's probably the repetitive MiRAdoRA. OTOH, New_Chloe's suggestion of Miadora is inspired. And hey, if you take their meanings (Mia means 'mine' in Italian or is a short form of Maria ['wished for child/beloved']; Dora means 'gift' from Theodore), then you'd have 'wished for gift,' 'beloved gift' or 'my gift.'Pretty awesome, actually.

It's pretty, but I imagine that a lot of people might end up a little tongue-tied trying to say it on occasion. I prefer just Mira.

I tend to like frilly names, but I much prefer Mira as a full name (I think someone at another forum I post at has a daughter named Mira). It's nice on paper, but clunky to say, for the same reason everyone else mentioned: the Rs are a little tough to get around.

I should like it - it's got a lot of things I go for.
I think the problem I have with it is ... because is has "mira" which reminds me of a Spanish word about looking at things, and sounds like "mirror;" AND it has "dora," which reminds of "adore" - plus the fact that it is sort of long and fancy - I get an impression like it's too superficial or vain sounding. Like it's a name that means "loved because she's pretty to look at." Of course it doesn't really mean anything, and if it did I guess it would mean "gift + admiration" or "ocean + gift" ... but that's not the vibe I get.I'm with Chloe, I prefer Miadora. That sounds more like it'd mean something like "my adored one." And it's tidier, easier to say aloud - two R's in a four syllable name can be awkward.

Miradora is very pretty. But something is bugging me. I can't help feeling that I've heard this before, but not as a girl's name. I did a google search and it did come up as a girl's name. So that makes me feel better. But, still. Something is lurking in my brain and I hate that feeling. I don't want to find out that I've endorsed a product as a name, or something / someone that has a bad history. Am I thinking of Andorra, a matador, or, help me people, is there another reference for Miradora that I'm missing? A drug cartel or something?I love the names Mira and Dora, individually.

There's a Mayan ruin in Guatemala called El Mirador. It does kinda remind me of matador. :PI do love Mira too, but it flow horribly with Ruth, our chosen MN.
I like Dora too, but I have a feeling my daughter would be called "Dora the Explorer".

Aha! I've got it.I know what Miradora reminds me of: Maradona, the soccer (excuse me, football) star.Very masculine. But not a bad association and not something that anyone else but me would think of. (And I almost couldn't!) Phew. That would have kept me up all night.

Haha! That association would probably make DH totally go for the name. xD

I never heard of the Mayan ruin before, but that would definitely be a positive association, cool and mysterious.Obviously I'm hallucinating. There's nothing wrong with Miradora. :-)

Oh yeah - miradora would mean a feminine-gendered point of view?
I kind of like that meaning but, lol.I think I recall there was someone who used to post here, who had Mira Ruth as a favorite combo. I think it's fine.

Agreed, it's a cool, pretty combo, and "flow" isn't really worth tacking four letters, two syllables, and a nickname onto something that wouldn't have it otherwise. But Miradora's cool too.

True, I'd have to love the long version as much as Mira. :) Anyway, I'm not sure that Miradora Ruth flows any better than Mira Ruth. It has an awful lot of R's.

As long as we're throwing Miras around, could I put in a bid for Edelmira? I know the "r" problem is still there. I just couldn't help myself. Edelmira is so overlooked.

And there's also Amira. I don't like it as much as I like Mira, but it has that extra syllable that could help it flow with Ruth.

Pia Zadora? That's what I keep thinking of.

Mmmmmm. Nope. But thanks for trying. It's closer to matador, or something beginning with an "m."It's probably just my imagination. Google didn't turn up anything negative.

I keep sayingMiadora, and I like that better, seems to have smoother flow. Miradora is very pretty, very fantasy-princess-esque.

I like it :) I love Mira, and I like Miranda "Mira", but Miranda is too popular. Miradora is great because it's got Mira in it, it could also be shortened to Dora, and it also has that "ora" sound which makes it seem s bit mysterious.

It's definitely a mouthful. I like Mira.
