[Opinions] Lolly
I came across Lolly on a card application form at work tonight. I wouldn't use it as a full first name, but I think it's a cute nn. Any suggestions on what it would be a cute nn for? Dolores is the only thing that comes to mind immediately.

Other than the obvious "lollipop", Lolly makes me think of the phrase "loli", which is short for the slang term "lolita".

There used to be a character on one of the Australian soap operas for years (it was a kid 'born' on the show and then she grew up etc) named Lolly. On the show it was a nickname for Louise.

Lolly, Lolly, Lolly get your adverbs here ...That's my first association (Schoolhouse Rock). Lolly is a really cute nn and I don't see why it can't work for Dolores. After all, Lola is derived from it. Why can't Lolly? BTW, I suppose you could also use Lolly for any name beginning with the letter L.

It's very upbeat, quirky, and adorable. I think Dolores is kind of a fun full name for it because it has about the opposite feel. I can picture teenage Dolores loathing her depressing name, so she goes by the much more cheerful Lolly.I also really like Lally, which sounds basically the same to me. It's a lot of fun, too.

My uncle's sister is a Lolly. Not sure what it's short for however! Lolita would be my first thought, then Laura or Lauren.

I taught a Lorraine once who was known as Lolly. Neither name appealed to me, though the child was pleasant.

Louise. A character on the Australian soap Neighbours was called Lolly as nickname for Louise. It could work for pretty much any L name in my opinion.

With all her "l"s, I could see a Lillian being called Lolly. Maybe Lorelei? Appollonia?ETA: Come to think of it, Telfalathiel has a few "l"s. You could be a Lolly too! :)
