Bunny might just be an affectionate nickname like Honey. And I don't like it. It really does sound like a stripper name.
However, my grandmother once knew a hairdresser whose nickname was Bunny. I forget what were real name was. I think it was either Benigna or Benedetta (she was Italian). I don't know what happened to her, though. She might have died of old age.
