[Opinions] Chantal
I used to hate the name Chantal a few years back. But now I've warmed up to the name quite a bit, so I can say that I like it now. I especially like the religious association. However, I only like the correct spelling. I still think Chantelle and Shantelle are trashy. What do you think of Chantal? How would you pronounce it? Know any good middle names for it?

It's okay, but it strikes me as a bit ostentatious. It seems like the sort of name that someone who likes to flaunt money and wear strong perfume would use.

I always thought the name Chantal was nice :) I guess Chantelle and Shantelle are kinda trashy.I'm not sure how I'd pronounce it though. Also, I'm not sure what middle names you could have with it... but tell me how you would pronounce it yourself? Then, it would be easier to come up with some middle names for it, as different pronouncations would suit different middle names.

I'm not a fan. I'd pronounce it shawn-TAL.

Interesting, all the responses about it being trashy. Hmm, I've never had that impression at all. I don't particularly like the name, but I get more of a royalty/snooty impression. Go figure. I've only know a Chantelle, and since that more accurately reflects how I pronounce it, I prefer that spelling. shawn-TELL.
Off the top of my head:
Chantal Ambrosia
Chantal Imogen
Chantal Desiree
Chantal Ignatia
Chantal Josephine
Chantal Denise
Chantal Clarisse (nn C.C.?)
Chantal Antoinette
And a few from your PNL:
Chantal Alessandra
Chantal Artemisia
Chantal Esperanza
Chantal Domenica
Chantal Aurelia
Chantal Felicity (oh yes!)
Chantal Isidora
Chantal Marguerite (double like!)
Chantelle Mirabelle :o)
ran out of steam, but I'm sure there's more.

I'm not a fan really. Reminds me of a really snobby girl I went to high school with, not trashy, just plain stuck up. She pronounced it "shawn-tall", so that's how I pronunce it too.

Hmmmm.... I still smell a trashy name in my opinion, but I think it's not the trashiest name I know of....

I'm not a fan of how it sounds but I don't hate it because it reminds me of singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, who I like. I also only like the spelling Chantal, pronounced shawn-TEL. There was a woman on the tv show, The Bachelor, named Shawntel...made me cringe.
