Help[Opinions] Broadleigh
I encountered this name at work. I'm fairly sure it's a created name, and I'm not a fan at all, but I thought I'd throw it out there to see what the general reaction was.

Although it's terrible as a first name, I'm clinging on to the hope that maybe, just maybe it is a family name, and therefore it at least has some meaning behind it.
Broadley is a surname (it's one found in my family in England, namely it's my aunt's married name), so perhaps it's an old family surname that has died out, and the family wanted to use it (albeit spelt badly).
If this is the case, it doesn't make it right, but at least it would mean the parents didn't just pick it randomly.

I like to think I'm less judgemental about invented names these days, but this one is just...not...good. I can't even imagine the misery a chunky teen would suffer if they were named Broadleigh.
Even if it is supposed to be said "BRODE-lee", all I see is a big fat BROAD in there.

Unfortunately, it was pronounced BROAD-lee, rather than BRODE-lee. I just - I had the same reaction. Why start your daughter's name with broad, of all things? That's just terrible.

Poor planning. It wouldn't be great on a boy, but on a girl, it's so much worse. No girl needs to have "broad" attached to her name.
Maybe she'll shorten it to plain Leigh when she gets older.

Sounds like Broadly? Broadly speaking I don't like it. Makes me think of a broad person too.
It makes me think too as much as the times I have thought that I really wished I'd been given another name, names like this make me think it could have been worse.
