Help[Opinions] WDYT of Alara?...
I found the name Alara a while ago and I thought it was really pretty (it's for girls). It's pronounced Ah - lara.
I thought it would make a nice alternative to Lara, even though the usage of it is only in Turkish, Egyptian Mythology and German, so is not related to the name Lara.
So what do you think of Alara? Is it a nice alternative to Lara?

I don't know if someone else already said this, but Alara reminds me of the car Alero. Maybe it's because the family I first heard it in also had a daughter named Lexiss. Alara and Lexiss. Alero and Lexus?
Not a bad name though. Better than Lara.

I like it, but I don't know if I'd actually use it. Apparently, it's the name of an insect genus, which I find to be a bit of an odd association, but the insect isn't all that bad looking.

Alara is also the name of a card block in Magic: The Gathering.
All in all, I'd say it has a touch of familiarity because it's a close to Alana and Lara, yet it also has a fantasy-esque feel. I'd be prepared for people to mix it up with Alana and Lara unfortunately, though.

I like it! I think it's better than Lara. I tend to be a fan of the Alana/Ilaria/Elena sort of names. It also reminds me of Elora and Alora.

The submitted name database is wrong. Alara doesn't occur in Egyption mythology, and it is definitely not Turkish.

From a quick scan of Google, it appears to be Turkish.

Oh sorry! Really it isn't Turkish? On my last vacation to Turkey, I met a few little girls named Alara... I guess it was just a coincidence. Where is it from then? :)

Maybe it is Turkish, but it's definitely not Egyptian or German. I've never heard of a German woman named Alara. Maybe there are Turkish women in Germany with the name, but not ethnic German women.

It has a nice sound, and I like the way it looks, but it sounds like so many other names. It kind of blends in with that whole Alana/Ilana/Ilaria/Elana/Elena group.

I have seen other variants I have liked better: Elara, Elora.

Nice ring to it, but it doesn't quite stick out to me as something I rush add to my "would use" list. Would make me perk up to see it on someone else though.
