[Opinions] Re: WDYTO Laoghaire
I like Leary or Laoire - I prefer a name where I know how to pronounce it just by looking at the spelling (unless the pronounciation is well established, like Siobhan or Lachlan or AN-tuh-nee for Anthony). For this reason, if I was using the name, I'd go with Leary, although I think Laoire looks the nicest.I've mainly heard the name from the Irish surname, O'Leary. I'm not too keen on it, as it kind of sounds like a description of somebody who leers a lot; "Oh, that Harry - he's a leery feller, he keeps looking at my chest". I think the Gaelic spelling looks unisex, more than anything - however, I'm not too knowledgable on the subject.I don't know how far travelled the "leer" connotations are, though - beside that, I think it could be a nice name for a boy. Not a girl, though, not IMO.
