[Opinions] Cain
What are your thoughts on Cain? I've looked at every single boys name on this site and Cain is one of the few boys names that I can actually see myself using on a son. Of course there are other names I like but few pass the spoken test (picture yourself in a supermarket chasing after a child and calling out the name, singing happy birthday ____, etc) Do you like Cain? Which spelling is best, Cain, Kain or Kane? Would Cain and Adela* make a good sibset? Thanks in advance for responding. *Adela is pretty much set in stone if we ever have a daughter so I'd like to know whatever boys name we pick goes well with it.

I too love Cain, but I have a very hard time getting over the Biblical reference. I think of Cain, murderer of Abel, right away.I do think it makes a great middle name. If you want to use it as a first name, I'd go with Kane.

I like Cain, this spelling only and I think both Cain and Adela are flexible names in that they sound good with so many names, so yes they work together.Alot of people will associate the name with Cain and Abel, but I personally think thats only really an issue if you are religious and view the bible as truth. To me it's just a fictional book so that negative association wouldn't really bother me

I don't like Cain because of Cain and Abel. It is one of those names where I wonder why the parents picked it.
The spelling Kane takes away the negative connotation a little bit.
I think it is a mismatched sibset because Adela is sweet & old fashioned to me but Cain is harsh. (And Kane is just modern & trendy).

I really like Cain. The Biblical association doesn't bother me. I slightly prefer the spelling Kane though; I think it takes away the negative associations even more. However, Cain is still a very attractive spelling. I don't like the spelling Kain. It looks odd. I think Cain and Adela go great together.

I don't like Cain, and no offense, but I don't think it should be used as a name. Not only is there the Biblical Cain, but there is also the phrase "raising Cain", which is bad IMO. Kane is probably a safer choice.

I like Cain. I know it gives some people bad thoughts because of the bible, but I think it's a strong, masculine name.

I automatically think of Cain and Abel do it isn't the greatest association for me. Kane would be much better as far as that goes. Adela can go with alot of different names and Kane is included in that I think. .edit:I think I should add that I like the name Kane, it's the spelling of Cain that has the bad association

Sorry, but I'm not a fan. I dislike it because of the bad association, and its one that a lot of people are going to think of. Spelling it Kane makes it better because then it can be passed off as a surname. I also don't think it goes with Adela. Adela is so sweet and innocent, and Cain feels dark and evil.
