[Surname] Re: English surname "Rasberry"
The origin of the name lies in Devon, according to Paul Reaney. A place now called Ratsbury in the parish of Lynton in that county whose name was once spelt Radespree, meaning "red brushwoodland".

The problem with that hypothesis, as pointed out at http://tinyurl.com/3za6lae, is that the surname Rasberry is concentrated in the eastern and northern parts of England.
