As I've never heard of the place called Brighton, I was more readily struck by phrases like "You brighten my day". Which make the name feel less masculine to me for some reason. I'm with Bear: I think Bryson would be better.

It's kind of cute and I would consider using it. However, I think Brighton Beach Memoirs and The Nanny.

Well I visited Brighton yesterday.... It's a place about 40 mins from my house...So I don't really like it as a name.

It's a place to me. It's a town near Detroit.

Definitely a new sort of name, in that it makes me think of a place rather than a person. It's not bad, but it's not something I'd add to my PNL.

I agree with Andromache, it's part of the place name trend. My family used to live in Brighton (or nearby) so I'm having trouble separating that out. When I first saw the title of this thread I thought of the name Bryson. I think that would age better than Brighton.

I don't consider it to be classic. It seems like part of the trend for place name names.
