[Opinions] Pamela
This is yet another name that I have liked for a long time. I don't even mind the fact that it's recently dated. What do you think of Pamela? Know any good combos? Is it too dated?

Pamela is pretty dated. In addition to that, the full name sounds so snooty to me while Pam just sounds flat and unexciting (ditto with Cynthia / Cindy). I did meet a Pam (I assume she's Pamela) several weeks ago and she was 22 or 23 (just graduated college last May) so the name IS being used.

I like it too: not too keen on Pam, but Pamela is delightfully Betjeman!Pamela Jane? I was at school with at least one.
Pamela Marjorie, for period flair
Pamela Elspeth, for tartan charm
Pamela Dilys, off to the eisteddfod
Pamela Suzanne, boarding the Eurostar with matching luggage

That's like, the quintessential name that guys like and women don't. Could it really just be Baywatch? lol. I don't even think of Pamela Anderson - I didn't until Entropy mentioned it.My husband proposed Pamela for our daughter, and although I think it is a perfectly decent name, and I have nothing against names that are similarly dated .... I never hesitated. I said, No. Give me Linda, Donna, Susan, Sandra, Carol, Cynthia, Sharon, even Janet or Brenda... not Pamela. Pamela is like Barbara and Joyce and Debra. Why? I dunno. I even knew a Pam / Pamela in high school, which usually is something that makes me more sympathetic to names.I would say it is the sound ... vaguely like animal, mammillary... lolWhat's wrong with it? I dunno. I just don't like it very much. Something unconscious. Maybe it is Pamela Anderson, after all.Anyway ... reverie over ... there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and it is totally usable. I just would not want to be named it.

I hate Pamela Anderson, but I don't worry about her. You don't hear much from her anymore.
