[Opinions] Gannicus (ETA)
I know someone who plans on giving her son this name.Has anyone heard of it? There is no information about it in the database. She says it's the name of a great warrior.Since this is the Ops board, I have to ask: What is your overall opinion of the name?

It's interesting, but I don't really like the sound or look of it. I wouldn't use it.

Makes me think of gannets eating ganache. And if her dream warrior was that great, I think he'd be better known ...

Google searchI didn't do much reading to see if the information is reliable. But Gannicus seems to be the name of a slave at the time of the Spartacus rebellion in ancient Rome. I keep trying to make it Gracchus in my mind which is annoying. But does appear to be a real name. He is used as a character in the TV series about Spartacus.

Gannicus sounds like it should be the name of a science fiction TV show.

Try the Names Facts board. However, there is information about a Gannicus on this Wikipedia page (press control + F to search the page for where Gannicus comes up): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Servile_War

Supposed to be a reply to the OPHm. It's alright, I suppose, but a bit grandiose for a first name.
