What I don't understand is that when people from this board fall for a Swedish/Scandinavian name, they choose the most dated name on the list! :P
I dislike Dagny. It is very dated, and I really dislike the sound of it too. And I usually dislike word names, and since Dagny consist of two Swedish word I dislike the name even more. Sorry :P

I actually try not to pick names like Dagny for that very reason. Granted I do like a few old-time Swedish names that are no longer popular, though. A lot of the English-speaking users are probably not used to hearing names like Dagny on any age group.
I can understand how you feel. I am also guilty of liking dated Italian names as well, such as Carmela, Salvatore, and Filomena. But I realize that some Italians may find them old-fashioned or even ridiculous.

Well, it's because we wouldn't know what's considered dated in another country...but I'm sure you already knew that. :)

Yeah, names like that don't sound dated to us because we don't know any. I love the name Sven, and a lot of the German and Slavic names I like are dated too (my favorite girls' name is considered middle-aged!). When I fall for a Scandinavian name, I like to check out its popularity - most of my favorites peaked in the 30s-50s. :P
But yeah, getting back to Ozma's point, for example, I had no idea Torbjorn was dated until someone told me (I think it was Caprice?) - the first one I'd ever heard of is in his 20s, and he's an exception.

It doesn't bother me that it's a word name, but I agree with the rest. And it reminds me of the silly 50s song quoted in the subject ...
