[Opinions] Chehalis
I saw this name online a few years ago, and it's been on my mind again lately. Chehalis (she-HAY-liss) is the name of cities in Washington state and British Columbia, and also the name of two separate tribes in those regions. In the language of the Washington tribe, it means "sand", while it means "beating heart" in the language of those from British Columbia.I originally saw it used as a boy's name, but I think that it works better on a female. I some of the more popular city names (like London and Berlin) and names from tribes (like Cheyenne), but for some reason I really like Chehalis. Perhaps it is a bit of a guilty pleasure. What do you think, sound-wise? Does it sound more like a male or female name to you?

I'm from Washington state, and my mom lived in Chehalis, so for me it sounds really weird as a name. Are you pronounce the beginning like the word she, like shee? Because it's the beginning is more like shuh. That aside, I suppose I could maybe see it as a name, and I can see the appeal to someone who isn't used to hearing it as a name of a city. It sounds more feminine to me.

Oh, I pronounce it shuh. Sorry if that was confusing; shuh- and she- sound similar to me when I read them, I should've put sheh- to clarify.

I kinda like it sound wise. Not a favorite of mine but definitely interesting!
I think is sounds much better on a girl! Shay is a cute nick name for it!

All I see and think is Cialis which is a very common brand name for this medicine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tadalafil.So it is extremely unusable for me!

Oh, I know what Cialis is. I didn't think of that! Personally, I don't think of Cialis when I see Chehalis. They really only share the same -iss ending.
