Oh, interesting. I've had the same problem with Astrid and do much prefer the "E" beginning. I can't help but wonder, though, if her name really was Astrid and the recorder simply made an error writing it down, possibly due to accent. I've seen my ancestors' names spelled all different ways in various documents and am given to understand that there really were not standardized spellings to begin with.
