[Opinions] Libby
Libby has been on my mind lately, WDYT of Libby on its own? and as a nickname for Elizabeth? Are there any other names Libby could be short for? I've known a Liberty and the obvious Elizabeth. I much prefer Elizabeth.Have you met any Libby's? Age, Middle Names? :)

I've never met a Libby, but I like it as a nickname for Elizabeth. It's peppy.

I've never met a Libby, but I like it (as a nickname).Libby is okay for Elizabeth, but I like it better for Liberty.Others you can use:Liboria
Libertad - Spanish form of Liberty.
Liberata - Italian name with a similar meaning.

Libby is nice only nickname for Libuša, Libusha, Libuscha, Libjena, Libena or Liboslava.

LibenaOooh. Libena. I love the meaning. How is it pronounced? "LEE-ben-uh" or "lee-BEH-nuh" or "lee-BYEH-nuh" or some other way? Is the stress on the first, second or third syllable? Thanks!

I love Libby too. She's so friendly and warm. But I only like it as a nn for Elizabeth or even Liberty, although like you I prefer Elizabeth. Hmmm. Another formal name? Lilibet comes to mind, but of course that's just Elizabeth in disguise. Sibyl / Sibylla
Bidelia
Wilhelmina --> Billie --> Libby? (pretty far fetched, I admit)
Cybele ("SIB-uh-lee")
Bibigul
Libed (means swan in Russian, "LEE-bet")
Libya (the country)

I like Libby. It is cute & spunky but also has a capable feel to it. I could picture a doctor or judge named Libby ao I think it can stand on it's own.
It is cute as a nn to Elizabeth. Liberty is only other name I can think of. It is cute & spunky as well but nms. There was a Libby at the company I used to work for. I never met her but heard her name a lot. I think she is in her 50s.

It's an okay nn for Elizabeth, I prefer it to Lizzie. It's also a fruit juice brand here. The only Libby I've ever met's name was actually Laura - her surname began with B. So it would probably work for any other LB name.

I always thought Libby could be a nn for Lillian, like how Buffy is for Elizabeth. There is something childish about Libby that somehow makes that work, and I quite like that. How bout Libya nn Libby? Lyubov nn Libby?I've never known any Libby's.

Lyubov, nn Libby, is a great suggestion.

I really like it, but I don't know if I would use it on its own. I really like is as a nickname for Elizabeth.

I would prefer a full name for it and the one I think would be best is Elizabeth. I suppose it could be a nickname for Lilibeth. I have a distant cousin with a daughter named Lizabeth (yes just Lizabeth, no E) and her nickname is Libby. I'm not sure her middle name but I want to say Rose. She has to be around 5 years old.

I know three Libbys, one is Elizabeth, one is Liberty and I think the other is just Libby. They are:Elizabeth Claire (25)
Liberty Sophia (18/17)
Libby Jean Grace (I think those are her middle names, I'm not sure on her age but she's about 10-ish I'd say)I really like Libby as a nickname for Elizabeth, it's so sweet and so much nicer than Lizzy. But I'm not keen on Liberty as a name.
