[Opinions] Which pronunciation of...
Lourdes do you personally use/prefer? Also, could it work on an American child not of Spanish/Latin descent (for instance, a black or bi-racial child)? Is it too "Madonna?""No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

...It's like "lured" in my accentAlso, could it work on an American child not of Spanish/Latin descent (for instance, a black or bi-racial child)?
...Absolutely.Is it too "Madonna?"
...Yes, too much for me. But probably a lot of people have been inspired to use it by her, I would guess.

I believe the correct pronunciation is something like LOORDZ, and I have no idea if the 'popular' one (something like LOOR-dess) is legit at all. I also think it's a bit odd on a non-Spanish child, but not horrible. I recently cared for triplets (Caucasian), two boys and a girl, named Liam, Logan & Lourdes (LOOR-dess). The names together were extremely trendy and cutesy together imo, not good at all. But that's the only actual "Lourdes" I've ever met. :bETA: I clicked on the link. I was wrong about the correct pronunciation (no Z sound on the end), but the LOOR-dess one is not even close! lol

It is very Madonna... and despite that fact I think it is a beautiful name... I think that it could work on an American child and I pronounce it Lor-dus"Never make someone a priority, who only makes you an option."

If I used the name, I would pronounce it like the place is said in English. That is, "loords". But I think Madonna uses the Spanish pron, "loor-dez". I think it would work on a non-Hispanic child, depending on which pronunciation you use._____________________________________________________________________Elinor"If you want to make a sound like James Blunt singing, simply take one fork, and drag it down a greasy plate."

I like the one-syllable LORDS pronounciation, and I do like the name on a girl. I think it is a little too Madonna, though.

I tend to pronounce it "lor-DEHS" and I think it could totally work on a child that's not of Hispanic descent. If I'm not mistaken, I think the name Lourdes is actually French. If I heard of a little girl named Lourdes, Madonna wouldn't be the first thing that popped in my mind, though admittedly, it might the first thing others think of.It's a very nice name. :) Do you have any ideas for middle names? _____
