It's a sweet name. I used to want to name my daughter Emma years ago, but then it got too popular. I don't find it too boring, though.

I love Emma! I don't care how popular it is and I don't consider it boring.

(My favorite combos with it are Emma Lavender, Emma Beatrix, Emma Louise, and Emma Rosalie.)

It's very pretty but sounds mega popular in the US
Move to England? It's still common here but you don't hear it everyday, unlike Emily

Whether it's popular or not, it's a gorgeous name. I don't love hearing it all the time on little girls, but I certainly doesn't make me cringe like, say, Madison would. Emma in the middle is nice also; no one ever does that.

I consider it more of a classic than boring. It didn't always have 'classic' status, but with it being used so much in the past 20 years, I think it's getting there.

I like it. It's homey and sweet.

Because of the popularity it initially gives me this unpleasant image of the little blonde girl whose parents call her princess and treat her as such and decorate her entire room in pink and dress her only in pink and blahhhhh. But then I force myself to imagine Emma dressed in homespun and bonnet and on the prairie, and then it's quite pleasant. I like it then.

My name is Emma, so it's hard to comment on it, but I do think it has a nice sound. I didn't realise it was quite so popular (its not so much here) but I think that would put me off.

Emma was a really popular name when I was younger, and I was one of 4 in my class.

I really like Emma, even though it definitely is too common. It's one of the few names I might consider despite the popularity. I think it's timeless and very pretty in a simple way.

Too popular, and not even popular for babies. When I was a teaching assistant for a course of about 200 university studets the most popular girl names were Emma and Emily. Some Emilies liked to be called Emma.

It looks like a poor ripoff of my sister's name ( Ella ) and it's way too common, also, I don't like Em- names generally.

I find it weird that you think it's a ripoff of Ella, when both names have been around for centuries - in fact Emma is an older name than Ella. It's not like Emma was made up to be like Ella. And Ella is really common too.

Love it! It's in my top 5. It's become pretty common,but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather choose a name that may be alittle popular over a trendy made up name

I agree. I know of a ton of Emmas. This is a name I would stay away from, unless you don't mind your daughter being refered to as "Emma *last name initial*"

Emma has been in the top 10 since 2002! There were over 17,000 babies named Emma just last year in the US. I like the name, and actually wanted to use it because it's the name of my maternal and paternal grandmothers, and one of my great grandmothers.....but I refused to because it's so popular.
Your child would definitly be Emma "Last Name Initial" in their school classes.
