[Facts] Please help discover meaning of MYRTEZ
Both my mother and my grandmother were named "Myrtez" at birth, yet I cannot find a single resource for it's meaning and it's driving me and my family mad.My mom uses "Mitzie" and I think that means "bitter".But what does Myrtez mean and where does it come from?
thank you!

It would help if you mentioned where you come from. The first thing that came to my mind was the Greek name "Myrto". It derives from the word "myrtia" which means myrtle-the tree. It may have some connection.http://www.greek-names.info/mirto-or-myrto/I hope this might help.

Without knowing where your grandmother was from, it's all guesswork, and this information may be of no use at all! - but I can tell you that the majority of people that Google turns up with the name Myrtez are Albanian, and Myrtez seems to be a variant of Myrteza (or maybe it's the other way round?) which seems to be a male Albanian name. It also seems to be sometimes used as a surname.

SuggestionCould it be a form of Myrtice? Myrtice is itself a variant of Myrtle, as is Mertis, which is a bit closer to Myrtez sound-wise. Not entirely sure. Good luck with you search!
