[Opinions] Forest/Forrest
Replies
Well it's not a name I've ever really thought of or considered. But I don't mind it either. I think I like the double r - a little less of a word and a little stronger looking. I've never known any Forrests.
Forrest and Celeste seem quite opposite in feel to me. Plus the -st endings are a little overkill for a sibset in my opinon.

I like the name(Forest), and I do know one.
I really like Forrest. It's so gentle and handsome. I do associate it with Forrest Gump, but I like that association. I also prefer it spelled Forrest even when it's meant to be a naturey word name because it just looks much nicer than Forest.
I've only ever known one Forrest, and he sort of helped me start liking the name. I thought it was interesting, unexpected, and I then associated it with trumpets. He was a guy who played trumpet during the Christmas church service (I always played an instrument then too). He was also the father of a girl I went to high school with. So he was probably born in the mid-50s.
I guess Forrest and Celeste go together if I try to bend them certain ways, but given my personal impressions of them, they do not.

I love the imagery of this name. I've known two men with this name, both spelled with the double r, one very old (in his 90's) the other quite young (16). It suited both of them. I think the name is quite popular in Rudolf Steiner circles--the younger Forrest I know shared the name with another classmate in the local Waldorf school. It was my dh's 1st choice for a son, but instead we had a girl. I also know a young woman who is in her late 20's named Foresta--she has a younger sister named Oceana.
As names, Forrest and Celeste evoke such different associations and undertones that I think they work together well. Would totally depend on the surname, whether there were other sibs, etc.
