[Opinions] Cutter, Cutler and Carson
While looking through the BAs in today's newspaper I did a double take. Did someone name their son Cutter? Nope, I was relieved to see the name was actually Cutler Louis. I'm not a fan of Cutler as it reminds me of cutlery but at least it wasn't Cutter. I read a couple more and there it was. Cutter Jon. This time my eyes weren't deceiving me. What a violent name :(And just so I don't make two posts in a row...
Last night some friends (the wife is due in early March) announced they had selected the name Carson Michael. The first name is 100% but the mn is still under discussion. Judging by comments they made to one another it sounds like someone, possibly the other spouse, is pushing for a different mn that is in honor of someone. Carson is nms and the combo doesn't flow well with their surname nor does just Carson with the surname, too much alliteration imo, but it could be so much worse.WDYT?

I don't like Cutter or Cutler, but I love Carson.

I really really dislike Cutter, because of the violence and the obvious association with self-harm which makes it sound like a pretty dismal 'virtue' name for a kid. Cutler makes me think of cutlery, which is slightly better although forks and knives are a bit of a weird association for a name. Carson is alright but it reminds me of the annoying one from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

To be honest, I hate all three, but if I had to pick one it would be Carson, the other two just don't work as names at all for me.

Cutter sounds like the alias of a gangster! So I'm glad it was actually Cutler, despite the weirdness and the "cutlery". (It also reminds me of "cutlet" as in meat.)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor"If you want to make a sound like James Blunt singing, simply take one fork, and drag it down a greasy plate."

Cutler and Cutter are horrible, imo. :( Carson is nms, too surname-y, but it definitely would win if I had to pick one of the 3!

I knew a man nicknamed Cutty. I am not sure what his real name was. Maybe it was Cutty!!Cutler - never heard of it. Cutlery immediately comes to mind.Carson is a surname used as a first name. Some people don't like surnames used as first names, and others do. Michael is one of the most widely used names in the world. I think it is a "filler" name. Who cares what they name their kid, anyway. Lots of people do a lousy job at naming.

I'm thinking of a middle name for Carson...[a name that i like]Rasputin: Slow down!
Yakko: Why? Everyone else is Russian around here!

Dracula: I am Count Dracula!
Yakko: Didn't you use to teach math on Sesame Street?
