I think it could have life. It's no worse than Ruby, really, for being dated, and I think it has the "right" style to be made new again. I bet Dora would be starting to show up again, if not for Dora the Explorer. Doris is just a little bit "younger" than Ruby, I guess, not yet old enough for nostalgia to fade the image of bingo-wings and make it seem more romantic & antique.
Reminds me, I saw a girl of about 8 or 9 at a park whose mother addressed her as Eudora. And that didn't seem fusty. I don't think Doris would either, actually. I've also encountered a toddler Marilyn (I read the names of kids signed up for swim lessons along with my son).
