The only Helena I know was named after the city. Conveniently this is also my favorite pronunciation, so it was nice to get it confirmed when I met her.
I do know a German Helene, which she pronounces closely to "he-LAY-na" even though that's way americanized. I'd say that's my least favorite pronunciation. I do consider these three (HELENa heLAYna heLEEna) equally "valid."
