[Facts] Novalee
According to a few "name" sites, it means ''chasing butterflies'' and is Native American. I'm very skeptical about both. Can anyone prove that this?

Novalee Nation was the main character in the novel Where the Heart Is. It has been a while since I've read it but I remember the characters talking about the importance of names at one point. I really don't remember but perhaps the book mentions that Novalee means "chasing butterflies"? If what was written about the meaning was incorrect I could still see people believeing it, resulting in those "name" websites and their possibly false information.
Anyway, I am completely unsure about this being in the book or not :P If you are really interested I'd suggest looking at the book. Otherwise I'd probably just agree with SugarPlumFairy that it is from Novalie/Nova.

I checked Google Book Search, and it knows no book that contains both "butterflies" and "Novalee". It does know the book "Where the Heart is".
I cannot remember having seen a better example of how all those "baby name" websites copy information from each other than this Novalee chasing butterflies example. There are so many occurences of this information that it seems more or less hopeless to try to hunt down the original source (and then judge the reliability of that source).

Novalie is a common name in Sweden; it's basically an elaboration of Nova.
As for the "chasing butterflies" meaning - while I have no knowledge on Native American languages, I would take it with a pinch of salt.
