I think people will assume it's spelled Katie, but I don't really see that as a huge problem. Eventually, people will just get used of using Catie with a "C". I went to high school with both a Catie and a Katie. Catie was short for Catherine, and Katie was short for Kathleen. I think the bigger issue, which may or may not have been an actual issue, was that I thought their names were just Catie or Katie all through high school.

Ultimately, Catie is a fine nn! I know my former high school classmates loved being called Catie and Katie but hated being called Catherine and Kathleen! ;)
