I love Sonia!! I pronounce is SAWN-ya (sawn rhymes with yawn). I've also heard it said SOHN-ya (sohn rhymes with lone). The second pronunciation sounds a litlte pretentious to me, but I could like that one too I think.

Sonia seems like she's usually a down-to-earth friendly girl, but can certainly have a flair for the ridiculous and unpredictable at times. A great mix!

I say SOHN-ya, but with trepidation, expecting to be told it's SAWN-ya.
I like the name. To me it has a perfect balance of glamour and modesty.

I think it is really pretty and exotic sounding. My cousin married a Sonya but I think Sonia looks a bit better. She has a twin named Donna and I think they are too similar in sound. I picture her though when I hear the name. Kind of short, medium length brown hair, average weight, dark brown eyes. She pronounces it Son-ya.

I don't really like it much. I think of the word "soya" for some reason and I also find it a little whiny sounding.
When I see Sonia I imagine Sonia from Eastenders, which probably isnt the best image but it could be worse. I pronounce it son-ya.

I pronounce it like Sonya. I pronounce Sonia / Sonya / Sonja the same too. It's quite dated to me. I'd expect a woman in her 30s/40s.
