[Opinions] Re: Silas (eta)
Sorry, never been a big fan. It's very snakelike, so it's shady and sneaky and untrustworthy. I wish I liked it. I like Sil-, but it's the long i sound that turns me off. Lately I don't dislike it as much as I used to because I can also picture it as some very devoutly religious old guy out on the prairie, driving his rickety wooden cart pulled by a mule. That's a nice image, but it still doesn't make me like Silas.ETA: Forgot about the Cyrus part. Cyrus is okay. I like it better than Silas. It's much more intelligent and mature, and it's full of nice and warm colors, which I prefer to the cold ones in Silas. I want to like Cyrus more too because it looks and sounds great, but it makes me think too much of Osiris.

Makes me think of Silas Marner which isnt a bad lit reference, I had a professor named Cyrus, he was a great guy so I have a better name association and preference for it.

I agree. It's untrustworthy. I don't like Cyrus much either all I can think of is Billy Ray.

I prefer Cyrus. I think that Silas is a bit more trendy, whereas Cyrus is classic. Cyrus also seems more masculine to me than Silas. I think that the I sound with the central L in Silas feminizes it for me. (I feel the same about Riley and Kyle, which have both gained popularity as girl's names). I also love the nickname Cy (that spelling).
