[Opinions] WDYTO Volker?
I have a little soft spot for Volker, but I'm concerned that it sounds too much like f***er. I'm pronouncing it the way it says in the database (and there's a link in the comments to a page that has sound files for pronunciation). WDYT of it?

Sounds and feels kinda surnamey in style (whether it is or not) and therefore a little dorky imo.

Nooo I'm in the middle of an essay on the Volksgemeinschaft and I do not wish to see the word volk in any shape or form ever agan. Urgh. Other than that association, I think the pronunciation would be awkward in any English-speaking country. It does sound like what you think it does haha.

I like it, but unless you live in a German-speaking country, it's probably not a good idea...and even then I'm not so sure, considering I know the youth in Germany says the "f word" more often than one might think. Would be best as a middle name.

I don't think it sounds like curse, but it's such a harsh name. I know a Volker and he was a hard drinking, hard living kind of guy. It seemed to fit his name.

I think it's a little much unless it's directly related to you through culture/family name. It doesnt have the most pleasant sound when it rolls off the tongue for english speakers :/
