[Opinions] Sibset (+ new baby)
In the shop yesterday a man came in with his 3 children (ages guessed).Luke (7)
Phyllis (5)
Agatha (2)Also he called Phyllis "Philly" and Agatha "Aggie" at one point. On the radio they were talking about a new baby called Audrey November. The radio presenter was complaining that Audrey is an old woman's name "like Maureen" or a cat's name "like Trevor"...

What fun to see a Phyllis younger than 80! My husband's family tree contains a Phyllis who was born in South Africa at the beginning of the 20th century and died very young. Some of my Afrikaans friends find it an unfortunate name because, in some local dialects, it sounds just like the Afrikaans word for garbage. Pure coincidence, but an unfortunate one.I've never liked Luke, but his sisters both got lucky! Never liked Audrey either, it seems drab and down-market (yes, like both Maureen and Trevor, though I've never met a Trevor cat).

Like Luke, hate Phyllis, like the name Agatha but I think it sounds too old.Audrey doesn't sound like an old woman's name at all. It makes me think of Audrey Hepburn. Classic, but youthful. Audrey November is a great combo.

I think they might've been foreign, maybe from the Philippines or somewhere around there.

Well the Dad was English, so maybe he chose the names! Also I've found that foreign people quite often choose old fashioned English names. I know a few Chinese people at Uni who have chosen English names as well as their original names. They're called Angela and Derek which I think are pretty old fashioned for 20-year-olds!

I went to school with a Chinese Edwin and Priscilla.

I adore Phyllis and Agatha! Not so sure about Philly though. That just kind of sounds like a horse or a sandwich to me. Aggie is one of my favorite nicknames though! I like the name Luke as well, but I do with they had picked a more unique boys name to go along with Phyllis and Agatha.

Yeah I thought that too. I heard the girls names first and thought "ooh I wonder what the boy is called", so I was pretty disappointed when it was Luke!
