[Opinions] Middle Name for.... Pebbles..
So my sister in law is dead set on naming the baby Pebbles (girl).. She was thinking about Gretel Pebbles LN.. but now she wants names that go as a middle name for Pebbles..I've decided im going to help her.. and hopefully she will find a name she likes better than Pebbles! So suggest me some nice combo's! Siblings are Winston Curtis (2) & Tamesis Chloe (1)

Thanks guysI'm still really hoping that she will change her mind. Tamesis was going to be Amethyst the whole way through the pregnancy, and then she was going to be Tamesyss Amethyst. So i'm really hoping she will change her mind. She is dead set on Pebbles, and its not a joke! I'll have to have a chat to her about what exactly she likes about Pebbles...She only has about a month or 6 weeks to go. It may be a Christmas baby, so maybe i'll start suggesting some Christmas names..

Christmas names would be great, and indeed, anything would be a vast improvement over Pebbles!

Natalia Kotone 琴音 (prn'd kotonay and meaning koto-sound... a koto is a Jpns. stringed instrument) is kinda pretty and the mn. has a bit of the feeling of uniqueness your sis might like w/out being completely tacky because it's at least a real name and not just a cartoon character or a stripper name.

I don't think it's the worst name you could ever give a person. I'd rather be Pebbles than, say, Beaulah. Or Viola. But that's just me.

Gretel Pebbles is adorable!! I'd say stick with that. Pebbles is good as a middle name for more old, serious first names, but pretty awful as a first name or a MN for an infantile, trendy names.

Is it possible she's just joking because she's tired of discussing names? When I reached that point, I insisted I was going to put Bubba-Ann on the birth certificate, and I kept my real choices to myself. I honestly can't think of a single name that sounds good with Pebbles. I keep getting hung up on ideas like Bam-Bam and Coco. Why name a child after something you'd shake out of your shoe? I'll just suggest some names that sound nice with Winston and Tamesis.Jonquil

Why name a child after something you'd shake out of your shoe? lolI remember 1 woman at church due in Dec. 1 year and named Mary-Lou was joking about naming the child Holly-Lou... :-P Went w/ a real name that her son liked... Boring name, but at least it was sensible and ages ok.

I have heard of a girl named Pebble from one of my mom's coworkers who went to Australia for a work exchange and met the family there (we're in Canada and she is a teacher). Anyway, Pebble's parents chose it because of the idea that when you drop a pebble into like a pond it causes the ripple effect, which could represent how one person can affect so many different people in their time spent alive. I thought it was interesting.Anyway, I'm not sure how I like the sound of Pebble/Pebbles for a name, it just sounds like a name for a pet like Snickers or something. Are you sure she's set on it?I would suggest another name like Penelope or Petra (meaning is stone, so that is similar?) where they could call her Pebbles as a nickname, at least by family and when she is a kid. That way she could grow up with a normal name and still use Pebbles by close friends.Actually, now I'm kind of liking the idea of Petra / Petrova / Petrina / Pierrette or any feminine Peter variant because of the meaning of stone. It would kind of match if a Petra went by Pebbles for a nickname. Do you think your sister would consider this? Also found Peninnah while doing a search, meaning "precious stone" or "pearl." Pearl / Perla could work too?I'm also not one for P- names but it sounds like a better option to me. Hahah please tell us what she thinks or decides on!

I like your Petra concept.

Finally a small positive twist to Pebbles. I dislike the name, but the ripple effect reasoning is kind of nice. The idea of variants of Peter because of its meaning also really good.

Pebbles??? As in Flintstone?Um okay. I like Gretel / Greta. Greta Pebbles is actually okay. But I can't bring myself to make combos with Pebbles as a fn, sorry Bex! I like her other children's names though, so hopefully she finds something she likes more than Pebbles. Can't it be a nickname?

PamelaI don't like Gretel. I lived in Germany and it really is an informal nickname you wouldn't often see on its own and hardly on anyone under 90. It's like Mamie or Lizzie, just more dated.Greta?Greta Pebbles
Margaret Pebbles
Marguerite Pebblesin case she wants to keep Pebbles.Lila Pebbles
Juliet Pebblesjust trying to combine some faves with Pebbles. Is she dead set on Pebbles? Weird to me because her other kids have nice names. Maybe try to convince her using it as a nickname for a P name. Pebbles Annabella
Pebbles Annabel
Pebbles Victoriain case you can't talk her out of it make her use a nice middle name so the child might go by this later.
Oh and I find Gretel almost as bad as Pebbles but maybe that's because I used to live in Germany and it's just so odd and dated there.
