[Opinions] Riff?
Why yes, I have been watching too much West Side Story! But anyway, I'm starting to like Riff a lot. It seems like a great nickname (I think it's a bit to informal and rough to be a full name, personally). The best I can come up with now is Raphael (or a variant). So what do you think? Can you think of other full names for it? Is the guitar/music association too bizarre of kind of cool?

I think Riff would be a super cool nickname for someone who was into guitars. That'd be sweet. Other than that, there are a lot of good suggestions in the other responses, so I'll leave it at that.

I think it's kind of cute, and the music association doesn't bother me, especially since it would be a nickname and not a full name.I thought of Raphael and Griffin, which have already been mentioned, and perhaps Rafferty would work as well. If you're willing to go farther afield, Riff could probably work for any name with obvious R and F sounds, like Ephraim, Frank, or Francis.

Ooh, Ephraim would be great!

I think Riff would be a cute nickname for a little kid, but it could definitely age up in close circles. Raphael "Riff" is cool. You could also use Randolf

It's the German word for reef. I think it's alright.

I don't think it's possible to watch too much West Side Story. :PI don't think Riff needs a full name that sounds close (although Richard was the first I thought of... or Griffin?). In the 50s they gave those sorts of unrelated nicknames like that. As for guitar riff, I think if you like electric guitars then it would be a plus. I'm a classical music type person, so it's a neutral association for me. Although it also makes me think of "Piano Riff Woo" from Family Guy. Hahaha!
