It sounds way too masculine to be a girls name and way to feminine to be a masculine name. Not a big fan.

True, but Fay (this spelling) was consistently used as a male name for a long time. It didn't fall off the SSA list for boys until WWII.
I don't find it at all masculine (especially the Faye spelling), but I do see how some people could.
