[Opinions] Dovahkiin
Bethesda, a software company, announced a contest in February that ensured free Bethesda games for life to anyone who named their child, born 11/11/11, after the protagonist of their newest game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."I wanted him to have a unique name," writes mother Megan Kellermeyer, who adds that she's not a gamer. "I am so picky about boy names that I was having a lot of trouble finding just the right one. We've toyed with Dovahkiin and the ramifications of naming a child that name, and that name being based on a video game character (however awesome), and what impact that would have on him. But the more I thought of it, the more I settled on Dovahkiin, contest or no."The childs full name is Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer. What do you think?
I think it's an interesting name and that in a few years people will have forgotten about the contest and simply think it a nice Slavic name.Link: http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/parents-name-child-skyrim-character-195904653.html

Yeah I agree. People will just think it's a slavic name by the time that he's old enough for school. The thing I find the weirdest is the Tom in the middle since it is so short and Dovahkiin and Kellermeyer are so long. I'd have prefered Thomas. Also I almost posted about this but decided I was too tired and went to bed and forgot about posting it here. It seems someone did it without me needing to. :P

I've never played those games and so it's not a video game to me. I assumed it was a Slavic name when I clicked the post, and was going to say that I liked the look and sound of it!

I just read that! The nerd in me is doing a happy dance. But it IS a little out there for real life, IMO. It's a superfab GP, though. I can see him eventually going by Dov or something.
