[Opinions] Loretta

It has all the elements of a name that I would like but it just SCREAMS country bumpkin / honkey tonk music so loud that I can't hear anything else.
That said, I think it would fit just fine with your other girls' names and I would not be at all upset to meet someone else's child named Loretta

I think Loretta goes well with Caroline, Charlotte, Celeste, Elaine, Estelle, Penelope, Patricia, Felicity, Samantha, Genevieve, Ophelia, Miranda, May, Mary, Marie, Maria.
I think Loretta goes very well with Rosemary. It also goes pretty well with Matilda. I think as a sibset Matilda, Rosemary and Loretta go well together.
I like Loretta because it is my mother's name. Also it makes me think of Loretta Young. It makes me think of the South and Soul music. I also think of Greece and Greek people and food. It makes me think of the Lobelia plant since that's one of my mother's favorite flowers.
Some good nn for Loretta are Lora or Etta or Ettie. I especially like Ettie. Retta is also cute. Rett is a bit too masculine imo. My mother didn't go by any nn. Very very rarely her mother would call her Lorie. At least I think she did. But maybe she didn't. Can't remember. If she did, it was so rare I don't remember.

I'm starting to love it, too. I put it on one of my lists. It's charming and should make a comeback. I dislike all of its nicknames but I think they could easily be avoided. I wouldn't be tempted to call a Loretta by a nickname, it's not that long anyway and works well on its own. Also I don't think the nicknames are so obvious. Lori and Rett, Retta didn't even come to mind. Yeah, it fits in very nicely.
I love Loretta! It's so homey and comfortable. I prefer Lottie and Lettie / Letty as nicknames.
Loretta fits better with Rosemary than it does with Matilda. It would be a delightfully unexpected addition to the set!
In-vogue Beatrice first comes to mind as a sister for Matilda and Rosemary, though I fear its blooming popularity.

I like Loretta with Matilda and Rosemary. It grounds them a little.
Anyway I think Loretta's really pretty and would consider it for a kid. plus I like all the media associated with it (Life of Brian, "Get Back" by the Beatles, and this townes van zandt song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPV7s4xHUi0 )

Great song! I also like that the name is well known but not often used. I just don't want it to come across as too "hipster" if you know what I mean cause hipsters we are not :)
I'm not a hipster at all either, but I just love hipster names! And I'm not afraid to admit it.
Loretta is more "hickster" or Rockabilly or... something. Both Rosemary and Matilda are more hipster to me, too. Which is ok by me. I don't really know what a hipster is, whenever I think of hipsters I kind of picture a disembodied pair of Buddy Holly glasses and that's it.
Hipsters are into things they consider cool until they become popular. Once they become popular they stop liking them. Hipsters are very common to Portland and Seattle. Many also go to the college I went to. Matilda and Rosemary do seem a bit hipsterish. But they are too popular to actually be liked by hipsters. Hipsters are likely to have a son or daughter named Kestrel or something along those lines. I like things that hipsters like but I keep on liking them even if they become popular. There needs to be a term for people who like hipster style things but don't care if they are or are not popular.
Loretta seems very rockabilly to me. Though some hipsters like rockabilly. Loretta is a very popular name in the South or at least it use to be. It is also very popular in Greece and Italy or at least it use to be. Most people assume my mother is Greek since she has a roman nose and very curly dark brown hair and is short. We even have had a couple of different Greek people ask if she was of Greek orgin since her name is Loretta and she looks Greek. She is actually half Mexican and get's her Roman nose from her father's side of the family who were mostly French.

I don't really like Loretta. Not sure why, but it just doesn't seem very pretty to me. I'm also not a big fan of Laura, though, so perhaps our tastes simply differ.
Some other ideas for Matilda and Rosemary's sister:

Starred are my personal favorites.

Check yourself, Loretta
before you wreck yourself.
I actually think the name would be cute on a girl.

I really like the gentle quirkiness of the set of Rosemary, Matilda and Loretta. I love how Loretta adds a touch of real-life whimsy to things. Sometimes we see these sets on here that are so glossy and perfect that even though I like them, I am bored by them. This is not the case here.
I also quite like the idea of the nickname Retta. So sweet and pert!

I say it every time...
But why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?
Okay, now that that's out of the way... it's kind of cute. But I just can't get that line out of my head. I think it would be very sweet with Matilda and Rosemary. It's a little unexpected, but has that softness to it like the other two.

Loretta is a great name! It goes great with Matilda and Rosemary, I think. As for nicknames, how about Lora?
