We've already decided that if we have a girl and go with Phoenix as her first name we'll call her "Fi" around the house, but we can't come up with a useable nickname for a boy. Any thoughts?

I like Nix for a boy. Kind of similar to Nick only cooler.

Also the nn Feeny would work.

Nix sounds so negative, being a word meaning no, stop, or nothing depending on its usage, so I can't recommend that. I think the best choices would nicknames that sound somewhat similar to Phoenix, such Nick or Finn, or are just flat out unrelated, like Chip or Bud.

I probably wouldn't use a nn for a male Phoenix, to tell the truth. Or, if I did, I would just let it develop naturally, especially if it's just used by the family when at home.

I prefer it for a girl! But anyway...
For a boy you could use Nix. Or Pho (even though that isn't really a sound in Phoenix). Or Phee (but that might be a little too girly). Nix seems like the best boy option, actually...

Another idea is Nyx, but that might be girl-only.
