Message: "Polly?" - Behind the Name

I have had this name on my mind lately. It feels spunky with a hint of classic, and it isn't overused these days. Last name starts with F. Does it remind you too much of a parrot, or Polly Pocket, or of the movie Pollyanna? What mn would you suggest?

I love Polly and ESPECIALLY Pollyanna! I think I'd prefer it as a NN because on it's own it seems better suited as a name for a pet - even so I'd be delighted to meet a human Polly :)

Polly is so bubbly I'd give her a longer more "solid" MN to ground her a bit.

I've always liked Polly. I think it has the spirit Molly used to have about 40 years ago. In all honesty, I do think of parrots, Polly Pocket, and Pollyanna when I hear it, but I like it despite those associations. Only the parrot thing is a negative, imo. "Polly want a cracker?" jokes would be hard to avoid. There's also "Polly-Wolly-Doodle," but she might actually like that when she's small, and it would eventually be outgrown.

I used to work with a woman who had a grown daughter named Pollyanne Laura. It might have been spelled Polly-Anne, now that I think about it.

I like Polly, it does feel like it has spunk. I also really like Pollyanna but that is a GP name for me

Sorry... First thing that comes to mind is Polly pocket and next Pollyanna, but it's not so bad a name... Maybe Pauline or Paula could have the nn Polly.

I've always liked it very much, which is odd as I dislike Molly. Go figure.

I have never connected it with parrots, dolls or Pollyanna. Though there is a Hannah Mary in my family tree, born in about 1895, who was always known as Polly.

I think it's cute, but a bit nicknamey. I know two people called Polly - one is my Uncle's Mum who is about 65; one is my Aunt's friend who is about 35. I don't know if Polly is their full name or a nickname.

My first association is the character from Fawlty Towers!
