An ex-girlfriend of one of my cousins. She was from somewhere... maybe Hungary or Croatia since the database says it's feminine there.I think Luka looks masculine, but Luca I wouldn't mind on a girl.

The female Luca is pronounced 'LOO-tzah' (short from Lucija). Luka is exclusively male here.

Then maybe she was Hungarian? I'm not sure where she was from, I didn't really talk to her, was just introduced to her! She did pronounce it LOO-ka, just like Luka.

It's the same in Hungarian. I think that she probably just went with the easier pronunciation in English (or maybe her parents named her Luca and intended the Italian pronunciation). There are plenty girls named Luca in English-speaking countries, after all (and names like Misha, Nikita, etc.).
