Lysandra has a Greek/ Roman mythology feel, opposed to plain old Sandra. I don't think it's too dated. I'd call someone named Alessandra Sandy, so I don't see anything wrong with the nn. Someone named Lysandra might want a nn that doesn't stand out as much in certain situations.
