[Opinions] Ainsley
What do you think of Ainsley for a girl? Do you prefer Ansley or Ainsley? Do you pronounce them the same? Is it too trendy or common? Do you know any?I met two girls named Aynsley recently. What do you think of that spelling? They are teenagers, I don't know any younger ones.

I've only ever met one Ainsley, she would be about 16-17 now. I definitely prefer Ainsley, and I pronounce them differently. Ainsley like 'Ayns-lee' (same sound as lane) and Ansley I pronounce like 'Annes-lee'

I love Ainsley. I think it sounds kind of trendy though so I don't think I would use it. I don't really like Ansley or Aynsley. Slightly off topic but last night I saw a girl on TV I saw a girl named Anslee (pronounced anz-lee).

Aynsley, this spelling, is a bone china manufacturer. My grandmother's china set was Aynsley. And that's what I always think of whenever I see the name, any spelling. It's a wonderful association, it's just that I don't like seeing products used as names for people. Yes, yes, I know the name existed long before the company. It's just my personal quirk which prevents me from loving it. If I didn't have that preconceived notion of Aynsley China I would like Ainsley on a boy. I still wouldn't like it on a girl, though. It has a very pretty sound to it and I can see why people are using it for girls. I just like keeping traditional boy names on boys.

I hate Ainsley because it's so nasal. To me, it always sounds like it's being whined rather than spoken, and I can't imagine repeating it 50+ times a day (as you do with a young child). Aynsley takes a name that sounds ugly and makes it ugly visually. I much prefer Ansley, but I wouldn't say really I like it. I know more little girls named Ainsley than any other single name, including Isabella and Sophia/Sofia. I feel like I'm up to my armpits in Ainsleys, and all of them are under age 7 or so, including the last two baby girls born into my congregation at church. I know 7 or 8 in multiple spellings; Ainsleigh is a popular local spelling. I don't know any Ansleys. An Ansley would probably be mistaken for Ainsley, now that I think about it. My sister-in-law wanted an Ainsley when she was pregnant, and I was so sad. Thankfully, my brother doesn't like names that sound like surnames, and my niece became Phoebe instead.

Weird, it's only at number 300-something. Even when you combine spellings it's only at number 200-something and that's only because they combined Ainsley and Ansley which aren't pronounced the same. Otherwise it would be 300-something even with combined spellings. Where exactly do you live? I'd like to look up the popularity per state :) I love Phoebe too.

I'm in Texas...and apparently in a pocket of intense Ainsley/Ainslee/Ainslie/Ainsleigh/Ainsly popularity. Woe is me. ;)

I know two name Ainsley (3 and 18) and one Ainslee (6). Its not a name I have ever really been in love with but I do oind of oike it as a gp. I guess that it could be considered trendy, masculine/last names for girls, but since the name is so down in the ranks I don't really see it as something that will become dated like Madison or Ashley. As for the spellings, Ainsley is easily my favorote, just looks cleaner and less made up than Ainslee or Aynsley. I . don't think I would pronounce Ansley the same instintively. Probably ANS-lee.

I don't know any Ainsleys, but I like it. It's scrappy.I don't care for the Aynsley spelling. It looks stupid to me.

Ainsley isn't really my style. Seems like a bit of a cheerleader name to me for some reason. I prefer Ainsley. I'd wonder if Ansley was pronounced ANZ-lee instead of AINZ-lee. I know one girls Ainsley who is 25 and one guy Aynsley who is 30.

I always thought they'd be ANZ-lee (Ansley) and AINZ-lee (Ainsley, Aynsley). It just says here that Ainsley is a variant of Ansley (or the other way around) which confuses me a little.

I graduated from high school with a male Ansley. He pronounced his name ANZ-lee.

I love Ainsley for a girl. That spelling. I don't care for Ansley much. I don't know about trendy, because I'm a Dane and it isn't a name used here.I only know of the female character "Ainsley Hayes" of the TV show "The West Wing", which was where I fell in love with it for a girls name. The spelling Aynsley is horrible. One 'y' too many and it's in the wrong place.
