I think it's cute. It is quite common here in the UK, although I've never actually met or heard of one myself.
Unfortunately, I think it's too cutesey. I just can't imagine an adult business woman called Maisie, it just sounds silly. It could work as a nickname for any name with "mai" or "may" in it.
